Torre David – Informal Vertical Communities - the award-winning exhibition on Torre David, a skyscraper complex in Caracas, Venezuela, was presented in the Hofpoort Tower in the Centre of Rotterdam. The exhibition presents the photos of Iwan Baan exhibited previously at Venice Biennale. On each corner of the space, four 1:1 pictures of Interior scenes merge and overlap with the empty, and semi-dismantled floor of the Hofpoort, provoking a dialogue and debate with the cityscape of Rotterdam. A translucent fabric wraps the core of the tower, as an ephemeral device, filtering the exhibition space from the entrance and service spaces. The fabric was used to hang the photos of the informal communities, guiding the visitor from the public spaces toward to the intimate space of the interior homes.
